“Incentives as an Initiation Rite of passage in Gay People”
By Robben Wainer
In my Research I became interested in developing a theory based on initiation of gay rite of passage. Uncovering what was written, I learned that there is evidence that homosexuality is, and is not genetic. We would say that it is not genetic since many homosexuals are born from a long lineage of heterosexual descendence. Yet homosexuality is thought to be a genetic fulfillment of character traits that evolve into a same sex attraction and expression. This paper will be looking at homosexuals from the stand point of understanding a life cycle from the standpoint of creation, if not reproduction, and will be assessing the phases or stages when same sex attraction is strong enough to classify the person as a homosexual.
At birth babies learn that their healthy response to awakening to the world begins with breast feeding. This sucking of the breast, is what psychotherapy has decided can imply a homosexual origin for either sex. Young infants are born preferring the nourishment of motherhood, as the nourishment of their creation and the unwinding of their personal development and growth. Family involvement for many gay people, as this may imply, learn about sex from their parents. This incestuous relationship to same sex parents and children can set up a longing for which maturity is sought after once it is discovered. This gender identification can arouse anal oedipal experiences which may make gender identification that much more allusive to grasp for the youth who feel they are the sexual recipient of the parents genitalia.
The first sign of this gender personification for a gay youth may be in discovering cross dressing and role playing. Girls’ clothes have the potential to show off this sexual profundity in a way that feminizes the gay youth. The gay youth maybe hoping to win over the love of his mother, or he may very well feel that role playing as a female comes naturally, as in cases where boys kiss each other, and are held and adored by adults of the same sex. In the control of power by a same sex adult the gay youth will often express this attraction by cross dressing and role playing, as they develop a same sex attraction as a response to affection. Peer pressure and sibling rivalry serve to construct what is an opening of the door to this closet as an initiation to a gay rite of passage when it is clear to the homosexual youth that stereotypical roles of gender identification are superficially based on one’s personality and experience. That is they serve no purpose.
Playing Sports, is when youth may first be discovering the private bodies of same sex peers, it is also when a gay youth may find aggressive competition to be immature, and without the aptitude to keep up with the pain of team sports, find they show skills and talents in self expression like dance, gymnastics, swimming, sewing and cooking. Again it is this submission of fear when being exposed to other nudes in a locker room, that gay youth fist internalize their attraction though they may not respond to this exhibition in the same light as those who are trying to claim the victory of defeat. A gay youth may be experiencing a hidden passion or attraction that is somehow more characteristic of faith building, and self expression when undressing with those of the same sex rather than the internalization of this need to assert one’s maturity.
All the literature seems to point out that the act of coming out of the closet and expressing ones same sex attraction is the initiation of a gay rite of passage that precludes all others. Homosexual’s in the military may attest that their coming out of the closet has indeed brought them closer to adulthood. This prevalence of sexual behavior that is a part of our individual expression of continuously creating our own lives for ourselves is the incentive that fulfills the character development of homosexuals. If we do not genetically inherit traits of same sex intercourse this paper is written to express three central points.
A. That homosexual character traits are the fulfillment of genetic growth, and development in LGBT people.
B. That the crossing of ones boundaries in the own inner creation of self perception, and coming out, are a gay incentive and a rite of passage.
C. Finally, that gender identification is often varied over a long period of time based on the homosexual’s experience with same sex peers and adults while in the cycle of growth and development.
